Seamouse, the Potugese police were idiots who were completely out of their depth and totally mishandled the case from the very start. The McCanns did not call Sky News before the police; thats just one of many myths that simply aren't true! I can state this with certanty but cannot reveal how I know this. As sad as her death is, this woman really wasn't very normal making unsubstantiated accusations and then killing herself as a resul. I'm not defending the newspapers, they are untrustworthy and appalling, but why was she so hell bent on the McCanns; didn't she have a life of her own?

It seems being a 'troll' in the media terms is basically having an opinion which you try and justify which is disputed by others.
We all hold opinions rightly or wrongly on lots of issues and there is no problem with debating it. The McCanns were not on Twitter, she did not bombard them with letters, phone calls or stalk them in the street.
She had a strong view and was seeking answers to get justice for the missing girl and for the negligence she suffered which is not in question.
I cannot support the way this woman was portrayed, shamed and driven from her home.
Every paper should be forced to apologise to her family for demonising a woman for her personal view and singling her out in this manner which has led to her death.

The more and more stories that arise like this, the more I am infuriated.
The word troll is being misused. Dummed for modern society by the same people who started saying 'app' and telling mobile networks to include 'unlimited usage of WiFi' in their plan descriptions.
Trolling is an art.
If you're speaking your opinion, you're not trolling.
If it contains any hint of anger, its not the work of a troll.

Let's face it; anyone that trolls with such spite and hate, is hardly a well balanced, normal person, are they?
If the Mcanns are innocent, then it is an appalling, spiteful thing to do. If they are guilty, then she didn't know that, so she was still being a hateful cow.
She chose to take her own life. All Sky did, was to expose her, for what she was. If she couldn't live with herself and her own opinions, perhaps she should have thought about that earlier.

I think Sky's witch hunt over this sad, pathetic woman's death is such a deplorable piece of hypocrisy, that it wreaks and they are entirely culpable for her death.
Do I think the McCann's killed their child ... no! Are they guilty of gross neglect ... absolutely yes and should have been punished for it. They certainly behaved very strangely and suspiciously and even the McCann Supporters, can't say their actions were typical. Finding your kid missing and immediately calling Sky News before you even call the Police, is not normal behaviour.
But what really annoys me, is the fact that they have been protected (from Day One) by somebody very rich and powerful. Certainly the media have protected them like a cabal, in a way that has never been impartial. Is Gerry McCann high up in The Masons? It seems that way. He certainly has connections. And it's this obscene protection without real investigation into the matter, that has caused the sense of injustice with the public, that lead to vitriolic trolling in the first place.
On one side, they could be entirely innocent and propelled a horrible nightmare of their own making. On the other extreme, there could be potential murder, cover-up, even child incest and a pedophilia ring. That needs to be investigated impartially.
As for all the UK Police activity, once again that has gone nowhere and I suspect the Portuguese Police have been closest to the mark all the time.
They believed Maddie died accidentally in the apartment and the McCann's had to cover up, and remove the body because of their careers and the cynical fact they had been drugging their kids to sleep, which would have looked very bad in the media had it come out.
The final irony is this .. had the Portuguese Police used the lower standard of DNA evidence that British Courts insist on, then The McCann's would have been tried in a manslaughter / murder case in Portugal. They may well have got off, but at least in a Court of Law, vital evidence would have been released, which would have blunted the UK media protection of the McCann's in its tracks and allowed a far more objective investigation.
All the British Public wanted, is the truth! The vitriolic and excessive trolling, has been a result of them never receiving that truth. I suspect that truth never will out.

She was a vulnerable person and probably had mental health issues, that's not an excuse for sending hateful messages but maybe the media should think twice and handle situations like this with much more care from now on.
